Working together CasAmica!

On Saturday July 8, the boys hosted by our reception centre in Valmadrera cooperated with CasAmica and Germanedo district (in Lecco) volunteers. The purpose was to upgrade a natural area near Via della Rovinata in order to create a new playground and a picnic area. In this way, both the people living in the district and the CasAmica patients with their families will enjoy some peaceful moments in this area.

Inclusion pass also through school!

School was a main role both for minors and their families in the inclusion process. Progetto Itaca education staff always chooses to include our guest minors in any school as soon as possible.

Inclusion through Bonacina School

Progetto Itaca promtes integration into the school environment for kids asylum seekers. Indeed, small and proactive environments for helping these migrants hosted are favoured in our Lecco's facilities.

Do you remember Abeba?

We received some photographs from Abeba of her daughters Salim and Lidia, merry and happy in Hollande since March, 19th. Relocation accomplished! :)

Relocation to Finland

Zenebu and the family of Seleme ed Ezra leave for northern Europe to reach Finland. From Eritrea, through Italy, coming in Finlandia.

Experiencing questions in a school!

We’re in a little town, in a secondary school made of 13-year-old guys. Many personalities emerge from their eyes: positivity, emotion, doubt, prejudice, feelings that arise from news mainly heard on the tv or gained through debates in their belonging family. The topic is wide and turbulent: immigration.

A mom’s word!

Two cultures, two countries, but only one thing in common: a mother that sees a lost child and decided to take care of him. Laura is a mother that noticed a far-searching-eyes little girl. She was taking her children to school that morning. She met this child that could not communicate with other children because she didn’t speak the same language. She felt “a feeling in her belly”. Then, she came closer to her.

From kid to kid

"Since a few weeks there’s also a cultural mediator who helps us when it’s too hard to communicate with her. We meet Salim more and more often: in the morning, we’re always in a hurry to pick her up at her place, and we have a great time trying to teach her some Italian words on our way to school."
