One Step at a Time

Some asylum seekers hosted in Progetto Itaca have taken part in “One Step at a Time” walking. Liceo Volta in Lecco has organized this event as a cultural symbolic moment and as a meeting between migrants and Lecco inhabitants.

Sadat’s story

Sadat is a 29-year-old Ghanaian man. He arrived in Italy in December 2016 and Progetto Itaca welcomed him as an asylum seeker. In January 2017, he requested for voluntary return assisted after her mother death. The return became his only way to keep his family together.

The process of Karthoum

The attitude towards the migration phenomenon is overturned. A collaboration between transit countries and countries of origin (even dictatorial countries) is promoted in order to check borders. Doubt remains for preservation of human rights.
